The 'After Midnight' ruleThere are three rules.
1) Don't expose them to bright light. Especially sunlight.
2) Don't get them wet.
3) Don't feed them after midnight
Of course I am talking about the classic fan favourite "Gremlins". The third rule is something I have always wanted to write about and try and make some kind of sense about it. Time zones and daylight saving time are the main clashes with the rule. But what does it actually mean by "after midnight". And how much food is required for the transformation process of mogwai to gremlin to occur. Would just one small mouthful of a sandwich be enough? I will try and explain my own theories to this the best way I can.
Let me first just say that Gremlins is probably my all time favourite movie. I love everything about it and is also the earliest movie I can even remember watching as a little boy. I can also remember pretty much every part of it off by heart.
Anyway back to the third rule. I have thought about it and maybe the "after midnight" thi
More Gremlins theoriesIn my "After Midnight" theory journal, I described what I thought it could have actually meant by "midnight". I also thought of tying it in with the first rule, the one about keeping away from sunlight. Well midnight, which is extreme darkness is the opposite of sunlight. So to turn into Gremlins, mogwai need to be fully in tune with the dark in order to progress to the next stage. Latitude and the time of year would also play a part in it.
The amount of water consumed by a mogwai or gremlin whether drunk or spilt on them is also a factor to how much offspring is made. If just one drop is spilt like the one in Mr Hanson's lab in the movie, then only one mogwai is born. If a whole glass is spilt then up to 4 or 5 can be born.
Depending on whether the mogwai/gremlin is good or bad will also result in good/bad mogwai. If a good mogwai is subjected to water against its will or accidentally, then the chances are the resulting mogwai will be bad. If it is done wilfully with inten
